Changes to 2015 SPG-P (Strategic Partnership Grant-Project)

SPG-P - Strategic Partnership Grants for Projects-changes to 2015 competition
Previously Strategic Project Grants (SPG)

Revised: June 16, 2015 

The following changes have been made for the 2015 SPG-P competition:

  • The anticipated budget for the 2015 SPG-P competition is expected to result in about 15 to 18 new awards per target area.
  • The Manufacturing target area now includes Additive Manufacturing as a research topic.
  • The agreement for international collaborations with the Japan Science and Technology Agency has now concluded.
  • Selection panels will assess each selection criterion using a scale of 1 to 6.


  • Form 187 – Outline of Training Program
    • For applicants who have previously held a CREATE Grant, the proposed initiative must differ significantly from the previous one. An additional page is now allowed to clearly explain this in the Letter of Intent.
    • The HQP table was modified to indicate NSE and Non-NSE trainees.
  • Program Description
    • Details were added to the collaboration with the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) section.
    • Details regarding progress reports and performance evaluations was added.
    • The weighting of the selection criteria was modified.
  • The Frequently Asked Questions have been updated.
